About Ballet Gothenburg
Ballet Gothenburg, a community ballet studio, was conceived in 2018 out of the simple desire to share the art of ballet with adults dancers wishing to come back to the barre after many years or for the very first time.
It is a place for adult dancers to feel at home, welcome, seen, and taken as seriously as any other ballet student. It is also a place for those just curious what ballet is about or looking for a fun way to exercise. Ballet is for any age, any body type, anyone wanting or wiling to learn. It is never ever too late to begin or begin again.
Our mission is to offer classes in a warm, welcoming, and safe environment. All classes are taught in English.
Don’t live in Sweden? Join us on Zoom! Many students progress more quickly online with access to all of our classes.
Founder, Director & Teacher

Lori, founder of Ballet Gothenburg, teaches with a love and deep respect for the art. She took a break from dance in her 20’s to become a Registered Nurse, only dancing occasionally between night shifts. 20 years later, she came back to ballet through teaching. Her passion as a nurse influences her works as a teacher in promoting wellness and health through the joy of movement.
Born and raised in the U.S., she has had the privilidge to study with amazing American master teachers including Dena Abergel (School of American Ballet), Lynne Charles (English National Ballet School), and Michael Cusumano (Joffrey Ballet). She trained Pre-Professionally with the Ailey School, New York City, has trained in American Ballet Theatre’s National Training Curriculum and with The Royal Ballet School in London’s Inspire Teacher Training.
She understands the joy, uncertainty, and challenges of beginning ballet as an adult as her first ballet class was at the age of 14 in an adult ballet class. It is out of her own journey, her passion for teaching adult beginners began. She loves the passion and intention that her adult ballet students show up with in each and every class. Her own passion is seeing them develop and take huge leaps in their ballet journey. Follow her blog here as she asks the professionals the burning questions we all as adult dancers want answered.
Studio Assistant

Rachael is a former archaeologist turned project manager; a former basketball player turned ballerina. She started her dance journey with Lori as an absolute beginner when she first moved to Gothenburg in 2021. Her favorite role so far has been as the White Swan, but her dream role is Jemima Puddle-Duck in the Tales of Beatrix Potter Ballet. Rachael loves drawing out dance configurations on her whiteboard, big jump sequences and hopes to get en pointe one day soon!
Our project manager, our rehearsal assistant, our retreat assistant – without her quick thinking, our rehearsals and performances would not be the same. She came to ballet class to dance and emerged as a natural leader in our school. And she embodies what it means to put in the work from absolute beginner to shining on the stage – put the work and effort in and reap the benefits.
