Performances: April 29th & June 7th

Ballet Gothenburg is Sweden’s first adult amateur ballet troupe. It is comprised of current beginner to advanced students of Ballet Gothenburg.

Performing gives students the opportunity to show what they have been learning in their classes as well as give them individual technique tips.

We perform throughout the year around our beautiful city. Find us at the train station, at the pier, or perhaps you would like us to perform for your private party?

Join us this spring at the Museum of World Culture as well as the City Library.

Spring 2026: Coppélia

Join us as we bring the joy of the comedic ballet Coppélia to life in an abbreviated version, Coppélia & Friends. Our version takes us to a small village where our main character, Swanlida, comes upon a doll, Coppélia, sitting in the window of her maker’s home reading a book. Swanilda and her friends try repeatedly to get her attention to no avail – because she’s a doll. They come up with a sneaky plan to enter Coppélia’s home to say hello and figure out why they are being ignored. To their surprise, they have entered the home and shop of Dr. Coppélius, a doll maker. Inside is a shop full of dolls. They realize Coppélia is in fact a doll, not a new potential friend. They have fun bringing the dolls to life before joining their other friends in the village to dance a joyful waltz in honor of their new “friend” Coppélia.

April 29th, World Culture Museum:

18:00 & 19:00

June 7th, Stadsbiblioteket:

We ask for donations to those joining. All donations go toward a student scholarship and/or costume fund. Can’t attend but want to donate? Swish 070 544 1742 and write “Scholarship fund”. Thank you for any support!

Performances FAQs

Find even more answers on the FAQ page!

When do Performances take place?

We perform twice a year, once in the winter and once in the spring.

Are Performances mandatory?

Not at all. Performing is an option, not a must. Performing helps students refine their technique, learn new steps and demonstrate their progress. Performing is also an excellent confidence building tool. You never know unless you try!

When do rehearsals for Performances take place?

Rehearsals typically take place after a class with the exception of a couple of groups.

Are the rehearsals for Performances free?

Rehearsals are free for all students of Ballet Gothenburg. The only cost is cost of the costumes. The average costume cost is around 500 kr per year and we reuse our costumes more than once to make it cost effective. We also have a costume fund for those wanting to perform but not able to buy a costume.
